Malta’s first LGBTIQ+ community choir KOR KWIR launches in run-up to EuroPride Valletta 2023

Luke Saydon at non-audition choir for LGBTIQ

Malta’s LGBTIQ+ community is set to come together for a unique musical experience as KOR KWIR, the country’s first queer community choir, launches at StoreRoom Malta in Ta’ Xbiex. Led by queer people for queer people and allies, the choir will offer a safe space for everyone in the community to express themselves through the joy of music.

Musically directed by Luke Saydon and co-arranged by Matteo Depares, the choir’s sessions will feature brand new arrangements of songs from various artists including Chic, Lady Gaga, Gloria Gaynor, Cher, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, Britney and other Pride essentials. Participants will come together at StoreRoom, socialise over drinks, and then rehearse the new arrangement tailored for the choir. KOR KWIR will meet every month between April and August, with intensive rehearsals in September leading up to the choir’s premiere gig which will be part of the EuroPride Valletta 2023 festivities.

KOR KWIR is a non-audition choir, and everyone is welcome to join. Sessions will be held every month from 6pm to 8pm, with doors opening at 5pm. Sign-up is free, but places are limited, so interested individuals should book their place on saydonstudio.com/korkwir.

Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of Malta’s first queer community choir and participate in EuroPride Valletta 2023.
