Prioritizing Mental Health: Support Services for All at EuroPride Valletta 2023
During EuroPride Valletta 2023, we’re placing a special focus on mental health support, and we’re proud to announce that we’ve partnered with the Richmond Foundation and the Rainbow Support Service (MGRM) to offer vital assistance to those in need.
Our commitment to providing professional mental health services at the EuroPride Village in Pjazza Tritoni stems from a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals who are still navigating their identities, as well as their families and loved ones. The unfortunate reality is that prejudice and heterophobia can lead to victimization and bullying, particularly on social media platforms.
LGBTIQ+ individuals and their families often find themselves more susceptible to mental health challenges, partly because they are part of a minority and continue to endure unjust social stigmatization. Despite the progress made through legislation promoting equality, there are still persistent social challenges that demand our attention.
We recognize that comments stemming from prejudice can have profoundly distressing consequences for those who are vulnerable and grappling with uncertainty surrounding their sexual identities. Therefore, during EuroPride, we are making mental health a top priority.
It’s disheartening to acknowledge that misconceptions about the LGBTIQ+ community persist. To bridge this divide and foster a more inclusive society, extensive education is imperative. Let’s work together to dispel stereotypes and embrace the rich tapestry of human diversity.
